Join in the hunt for King Alonso’s seemingly lost son, and become embroiled in the plots and unrest that unwaveringly preoccupy the court.

This 6 month long production of Tempest changes installation each month, as the portal to another world opens in new spots of the strange Island. This Month, stop by 297 Hoxton Street to see preparations and construction for the next portal opening, Hotel Lobby and meet the design team behind this ever evolving space.

From January 2012, a small tear in space will appear at the top of Hoxton Street: a portal to a distant island and it’s displaced inhabitants. RETZ invites you to experience our latest networked narrative, O brave new world. 297 Hoxton Street will play host to 6 immersive environments inspired by The Tempest: changing monthly - chameleon-like - as the story unfolds. One minute a dive bar, next a library crammed floor to ceiling with books. Fully functioning in the day-time and, as night draws in, 297 will come alive with intimate performances and exclusive events.
Cross the threshold and be transported to far away landscapes and eccentric interiors, with a narrative that constantly unfolds around you. Catch up with the barman, share coffee with a tyrant’s beautiful daughter, watch as things turn sour for three treacherous rogues or burn the midnight oil with royalty and revolutionaries; this space is filled with stories. Between visits keep up with characters at home with action-packed videos and online content.
O brave new world forms RETZ’s contribution to the CREATE festival 2012 and is part of Hackney Council’s Art in Empty Spaces Initiative.297 Hoxton Street, London, N5 9JX
