Gallery One and a Half
-
Gallery One and a Half opened in May 2011. We are a self-funded contemporary arts space in Hackney’s De Beauvoir Town, hanging a range of curated shows throughout the year. The gallery itself forms part of the former C. Lindley nuts and bolts factory, and retains many of its industrial characteristics.
While we are a photography led space, we also have particular interests in multidisciplinary practice, craftsmanship, and interesting ideas.

Tina, We Salute you
Tina, We Salute You started life as a cupcake stall in UpMarket just off Brick Lane. From these humble beginnings we have blossomed into Dalston’s greatest cafe.
Tina is owned by Steve and Danny, and employs the talents of Lou, Thomas, Mary-Ann and Viv.
Come along to sunny Dalston, have a great coffee, some good food and perhaps even make it onto our now famous loyalty wall.

Barbecue in the 'burbs? Why not - the success of this slice of the Deep South in De Beauvoir Town shows that London is more than ready for a more sophisticated take on the food of the US. A former pub has been kitted out with some serious smoking equipment imported from Oklahoma and a brewing kit, resulting in the ribs 'n' beer combo so often seen in the southern states but until recently rare here. The menu's small - beef and pork ribs, pulled pork sliders, steak, burger; the side orders are authentic - baked beans with pork, thin fries, deep-fried pickles, mac and cheese. It's all served on metal trays, which is fashionable here but commonplace in the US. And the meats are as good as you could hope for - burger and steak are decent, but make the most of the kitchen's smoking expertise and go for the ribs - charred, sticky, sweet, spiced, tender, liable to collapse from their bone at the faintest of forkings. Sliders are great too - the mini burger buns, slightly sweet, are stuffed with strands of slow-cooked pork, a deep-fried pickle and a blob of coleslaw.
