Formans Smokehouse Gallery
-
Forman's Smokehouse Gallery is a brand new art project space overlooking the London 2012 Olympic Park and was founded to provide artists with a high profile platform from which to introduce their work to new audiences.
With spectacular exhibition space measuring more than 600 square metres (6600 sq ft) and with an unrivalled view of the new Olympic stadium, the gallery is situated on the top floor of the UK's oldest salmon smokers, H Forman & Son, which was forced to relocate to its new site by the Olympic development. Hackney Wick and Fish Island have the highest concentration of artists studios in the world.Stour Road, Fish Island, Hackney Wick, London, E3 2NT

Cat and Mutton
The Cat and Mutton has firmly established itself on Broadway market as the place to eat, drink and be merry. Originally called The Cattle & Shoulder of Mutton, it has been a fixture in Londons East End since the late 1600′s. Initially a renowned ale house frequented by the many drovers and agricultural workers arriving in London to sell there various beasts in the markets in what now is known as the city, the name was centuries later shortened to The Cat and Mutton. After years of neglect it was bought by its current owner in 2003 and has heralded a resurgence in a vibrant part of Hackney.

We want to make it the best local bar in London, serving great drinks, delicious food and coffee to the locals of Hackney Wick and visitors from beyond. Somewhere to meet for a drink, drop in for coffee, leave messages for friends & neighbours, escape the studio, hang out, read the books, grab a bite, pick up a bottle for home or stay and enjoy it here.
Nothing fancy- just good & tasty & friendly. Keep it simple and do it well.
The interior is a work in progress. Think Gran’s kitchen meets continental bar. (We like to think we’re a bit cool. But we’re probably not all that). Things appear, some stay, some change.
We hope that The Hackney Pearl lives up to it’s name; a lustrous gem nestled in a rough exterior.

Nestled away in the creatopolis that is Hackney Wick, we’re just a short walk from Hackney Wick overground, Pudding Mill DLR, or loads of bus routes (number 8 is a handy one). Or if it’s a nice day, take a cycle along the beautiful Hertford Union canal or the River Lee, and reward yourself with some great food and coffee!
