Natalie Dybisz is a fine-art photographer. ‘Self Gazing’ is a collection of work that has synergy and impact as one visual unit, exploring surrealism and female self-imaging. The images are also individually identifiable by themes ranging from anxiety to sensibility including composites and low-key-light inspired by paintings. The artist uses self-portraiture to express a wide variety of messages from the everyday to the otherworldly. Her ‘multiplicity’ or ‘clone’ images show herself, as the photographer, repeatedly in the same frame – a ‘group shot’ where no power from ‘looker’ to ‘looked-at’ is compromised.
